Early Bird Session — Publishing Options Pros and Cons
In this early bird workshop, Mike will share available publishing options to help you determine which might be best for you. He’ll discuss the pros and cons of each one.
Where Fiction & Nonfiction Meet — The Heart of Good Writing
Good writing is about being honest with yourself and your reader. In this workshop, we’ll look at the heart of good writing, regardless of genre or audience, fiction or non-fiction. All writing that touches the soul share common characteristics.
Time Management for the Writer
The biggest excuse Mike hears for not writing or finishing a writing project is the lack of time. He knows the struggle, too. But the challenge with managing time doesn’t have to stall your writing. In this workshop, Mike will discuss techniques to manage and make time to write.
Characters are the heart of any fiction or non-fiction story. They connect your reader to your story. In this workshop, we’ll take an in-depth look into what makes some characters great and some cardboard. You’ll learn how to create characters your readers won’t want to say goodbye to.
Settings, Description, & Plot
Ah, the nuts and bolts of solid writing. Setting, description, and plot are not just writing props, they’re crucial for breathing life into your writing. This workshop will focus on taking these three skills and using them to create a full-bodied, fully-developed world for your characters to inhabit.
10 Ways to Improve Your Writing — Common Mistakes Writers Make
Here’s where the spit shines the shoe. Do these ten things and your writing will instantly improve. And learn about the most common pitfalls that trap novice and experienced writers. Knowing what they are is half the battle to avoiding them, right?
