Meet Fiction Track Leader
Eva Marie Everson:

Eva Marie Everson

One of the original five members of Word Weavers, Eva Marie Everson is a multiple-award winning author and speaker, president of Word Weavers International, director of Florida Christian Writers Conference, and Managing Editor at Firefly Southern Fiction. The author of dozens of books, her most recent releases include The Bipolar Experience (written for LeeAnn Jefferies) and God Bless Us Every One. Class Descriptions

Developing Deep Characters

Using a participant-active method of developing character, Eva Marie shows readers the importance of knowing your characters fully, how that’s done, and, in the process, how to write in deep point of view.

What’s The Point? – Choosing the Best Point of View

Novel writers are often found guilty of “head hopping.” What is that, exactly? Is it ever okay? In this session, Eva Marie shows how to determine the best point of view to tell a story in (first, third), whose point of view should be told per scene, and how to draw from the senses to give the reader the truest sense of the character.

The Truth Behind Show & Tell: A Beginners to Intermediate Understanding of Rule #1

Point of view lends itself to scenes, and scenes lend themselves to the agony of “show, don’t tell.” In this session, Eva Marie uses a unique teaching method to show how, by using the senses, we can stop telling … and start showing.

Meet Non-Fiction Track Leader
Lori Hatcher:

Lori HatcherLori Hatcher is the editor of Reach Out, Columbia magazine and the author of two devotional books and the blog, Hungry for God . . . Starving for Time. Her latest devotional, Hungry for God, Starving for Time won the Christian Small Publisher’s Book of the Year in 2016. Lori has had more than 150 articles published in print and online publications such as Christian Living Today, The Upper Room, Christian Living in the Mature Years, War Cry, P31, and The Old School House.

Early Bird Session:
Help! My MC’s POV Head Hopped in my WIP – Decoding Writers’ Jargon

Have you ever visited a foreign country and found yourself surrounded by native speakers chattering on in a language you can’t understand? Then you know how it feels to be the only one who isn’t in the know. The publishing world is very similar – filled with unfamiliar and confusing terms and acronyms, it has a language all its own. But fear not – after this workshop, you’ll be able to cut through the verbiage, translate any writing conversation, and have a greater understanding of the writing world.

(Almost) Painless Editing for the Grammatically-Challenged – A Practicum

Genius isn’t enough when you send your blog post, article, or book out into the publishing jungle. Not only does your work need panache, it also needs polish. And even the most seasoned writer has weak areas. In this nuts and bolts workshop, magazine editor Lori Hatcher will expose the most common errors writers make and teach you how to catch them. Then you’ll have the chance to practice your newfound knowledge in a group editing session.

Top Writing Life Hacks – How to Work Better, Faster, Smarter

Every profession has its collection of tips, shortcuts, and pearls of wisdom. The writing world is no exception. In this nuts and bolts workshop, Lori Hatcher will share the trade secrets of seasoned writers and editors to help you work smarter, not harder.

Out of the Computer and into the World – How to Launch Your Writing

You’ve done it – you’ve finished your article, devotion, or book. Now what? How do you get it out of the computer and into the hands of readers? This practical workshop, taught by someone who sits on both sides of the writer/editor desk, will give you suggestions, tips, and resources for finding the best places of publication for your literary darlings.
